I’ve had an ongoing consulting relationship with Jane Wang-Wesley for 25+ years. The focus has been on the growth of my operating business, namely develop well located commercial retail properties, a successful six-year partnership where all functional areas were well developed and managed by four partners.
The contextual focus for the business [transformation has been through language expressing authentic commitments, such as] to “develop properties that attract uses that are needed and wanted by communities.” Initially, this was a start-up environment where all functions would be managed by myself and one of my former partners. As time went on, I became the principal leader with overall responsibilities for the business.
The result over the years has been [a great deal of growth], the development of multiple shopping centers with retail and service uses, including food service (e.g. Panera Bread), personal services (e.g. Chase Bank & ATI Physical Therapy) and automotive (e.g. Goodyear Tire & Rubber), to name a few.
Recently we expanded our services to be the [Chicago metropolitan representative of a large national organization, with the accountability, amongst others,] to supervise the licensing of leasing agents for 17 luxury high rise apartments in the loop and core neighborhoods. This beneficial diversification was not intended or foreseen. Jane’s coaching had a significant impact on this evolution.
