Case Studies
(A) Asian or Taiwan General Distributor for International Brands
Amongst the contents of this training, I was much defiant about the approach of “Being responsible for others’ expectations of me” Remembering at the time, with my disdainful thought about such suggestion, “Why must I deal with other’s expectations of me?” I even argued with the course trainer.
Sometime later, while using what I’ve learned from the course for responding to the many demands or requests of customers and partners, this approach came to be of great value.
For example, I’ve encountered many instances in which the so-called “difficult customers” demanded way too high discounts; and. tremendously I used to suffer the process of dealing with such situations. In discussing about this with my coach for transformation, this part of the training was brought up and I realized that my attitude may be adjusted to the thinking that, in these situations, the customers are simply requesting conditions to their favor while I am simply standing a ground in my company’s favor. I can always respond by letting known which requested are not to be accepted while being responsible for the consequence of my responses. With such a shift of attitude, dealing with the various customers’ demands suddenly became much simpler. Not only that, with myself “being willing to be responsible for it all” I become much more clear-headed for many interactions in personal relationship.

About the leadership training course, my personal experience was that my CEO (when I was the CTO of Telenav) told me I became from non-coachable to be coachable.
This is very special to me since I also feel that I can talk to the CEO, although as a very close friend in private, at the same level, instead of trying hard to catch up or to criticize what he says. I can both follow and contribute to his ideas, concepts and ambitions right at the discussion, feeling positive ˊhappy (rather than feeling under lots of pressure). These were all enabled by what I learned from the course, especially, take the ownership, make my own decision, ... This is a very subtle attitude change, even though I was one of the founders of the company and have been in the senior management team for more than 15 years.
